'The Snowman' with live Orchestra

There will be a schools performance on Monday 18th December 2017 at 11.30am and 1:30pm. It will take place at Victoria Hall , Hanley and will last for 1 hour. Following on from the high demand for tickets for The Snowman live experienced in other areas we will be offering places on a first come first served basis. We will confirm your request for tickets via email and hopefully we will be able to accommodate all requests. Please click the link at the bottom of the page for tickets.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your pupils to experience the thrill of live music underpinning an iconic film, witnessing the beautiful score coming to life, and the power of music close-up. The performance provides the perfect opportunity to fulfil one of the main aims of the music National Curriculum: "to appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live music from great composers and musicians". Many schools also appreciate the opportunity to take their pupils on an informative, yet fun, festive trip as a viable alternative to the pantomime.

The concert will open with a specially written Christmas Overture, followed by a Festive Guide to the Orchestra. All the instruments are presented in a fun and approachable way, offering the young audience members the valuable experience of seeing - and hearing - the instruments individually. These include seldom seen instruments such as the celeste, cor anglais and bass clarinet. Popular favourites tend to be the harp and the naughty drummer!

There will then be a world premiere of the award winning book 'The Bear and the Piano' arranged for orchestra. The author, David Litchfield, has created an animated film of his book just for us, with a specially written score by Dan Whibley, accompanied by the unmistakable voice of Joanna Lumley narrating. A truly winning combination set to become a firm favourite for a generation of new audiences.
The Snowman film will then be projected onto the screen, accompanied by a local child soloist singing the timeless “Walking In The Air”. It's going to be magical. To audtion to sing 'Walking in the air' please click the link below or here.

I do hope you will be able to join us for what will undoubtedly be a magical Christmas experience.
