British Composer Awards

Macclesfield Youth Brass Band commissioned Lucy Pankhurst to create a special piece to celebrate their 10th anniversary (2005-2015). The piece Brass Roots; Musical Wings was composed with the assistance of the members of MYBB during 2015 which players within MYBB created rhythms and melodies and suggested musical styles and structure for the work during a series of workshops.. The piece was entered into the British Composer Awards, in the Category for community or educational project. This is a very prestigious event and the piece was in the final three; a great achievement!. Well done to all involved!
