Orchestral Residential

On the weekend of the 28th April the Love Music Trust held their first Orchestral Residential trip to the Conway Centre, Anglesey. Twenty five Gifted and Talented Students were joined by the LMT team, Conductor Russell Gray, internationally acclaimed trumpeter, John Wallace and tubist Tony George of the Wallace Collection. The student’s many of whom had not played in a orchestra before included one who had never seen a Oboe before! got to work together in a very inspiring and exciting way. During the ten hours of rehearsals that took place over the weekend the students were split into sectionals and specialist tutors were on hand to give them support and guidance. Everyone was also able to enjoy either mountain biking or a high rope climbing session. On the Saturday evening we spent time in the yurt at the centre toasting marshmallows and playing djembes whilst singing songs! We returned on Sunday to perform the Hummel Trumpet Concerto a new arrangement of Teutates as well as other well known orchestral pieces at Sandbach School. It was a great weekend; thank you to everyone involved. The next Orchestral Residential will take place on 15th -17th September. Click here to sign up
