Summer Celebration Weekend 2017

Over the weekend of 24th and 25th, June, Clonter Opera Theatre in Congleton hosted the Love Music Trust’s fifth annual Summer Celebration Weekend. 1000 young musicians and vocalists from across the borough of Cheshire Eastjoined us over the weekend there were six concerts all performed in the refined andbeautiful setting of Clonter. On Saturday morning we heard the Percussion Ensemble who are getting ready to take part in the WMC Competition in the Netherlands. We also heard the guitar ensemble and Barnaby Bear made his way to Clonter too. Saturday afternoon was filled with the delightful sounds of the LMT Folk Ensemble, Academy Brass, String Sinfonia and the Crewe Co-operative Youth and Junior Wind Bands. The evening concert was a Brass festival with Macclesfield Youth Brass Band, Poynton Youth Brass Band, Lions Youth Brass and Fodens Youth Band at the end of the concert a beautiful rendition of the hymm “Manchester” was played by all groups. On Sunday the first concert of the day was a vocal celebration featuring LMTS Nantwich Voices Alsager Young Voices, Sandbach Young Voices and Nantwich Young Voices. Poynton Music Academy Singers and Poynton High School Choir completed the line up. The afternoon concert showcased the winners of the Cheshire East Schools Music Competition and also Accent Music Hub competition winners too.We welcomed Alsager School Choir and Jazz Band, Stapeley Broad Lane Choir, Strings out Loud from St Magerets, Warrington, Rode Heath Violin Ensemble and Congleton Youth Orchestra who ended the concert with their medley from the Lion King. On the Sunday evening, the LMT Junior Big Band were the first group on stage followed by Saxophone Orchestra playing the world premiere of two new pieces written for them for the EurSax tour to Portugal. The LMT senior Big Band were joined by Mike Lovatt who is the Principal Trumpet with the John Wilson Orchestra and lead trumpet with the BBC Big Band. On the night Mike played a number of solos with the LMT Big Band. The weekend was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.
